Is there a better/dumber developer than ...

The makers of Burnout Paradise. They released a game that got AAA here, and scored very well on most sites. Since then, theyve released many free updates, culminating with next weeks big update of bikes, day/night cycle and weather effects. Although this company needs to be applauded as probably the most user friendly and generous game developer ive ever seen, you cant help but think why they didnt just release a new game this January with all these updates?Burnout Paradise was a great game when it came out, with a lot of replay value but they just keep adding and adding, and all for free. Theyve even discussed adding big rigs, planes and a new island to play on, all presumably free. Are they mad? Is there a better/dumber developer than ...
Well. its probably a marketing technique, since they are releasing a PC version with a map editor aswell, its probably to make it seem like its still worth buying so late.I thought Microsoft didnt allow free content on XBOX live? Is there a better/dumber developer than ...
Both Blizzard and Valve release free content frequently (and a lot more than criterion)...but still I have to applaud what they are doing, not many Console developers give away free DLC.
It's no different than what some PC game developers do.
Bravo for Criterion . eat that Gears of war , halo 3, COD4, GTA4 for charging people for so little content !!!
What can you say they are a great bunch of guys... obviously they want us to enjoy their games as much as possible, rather than look to line their pockets at every opportunity.
I thought Microsoft didnt allow free content on XBOX live?
Not true at all; where did you hear that?
yes. there absolutely, completly mad and i bow to them. devs like that, providing lots of support and polishing up the game well after the games release, are few and far between. blizzard, valve, criterion, bungie (still making MP maps for halo 3..though there not free thank u MS.), epic (though not as much anymore) and CDProjekt Red are the only devs i can think of that provide that kind of support. oh and stardock (big new patch for sins available soon ish....graphics upgrades, performance enhancements and such like).
I hope it becomes the norm. I don't think it always needs to be free, but I like that they are fully supporting the product well past its release date. There are alot of games that I have where i'd be willing to buy more content or that have pretty blatant errors that could probably be fixed via patches, but the developers aren't supporting the game after its release so i'm kinda left out there.
Its even more surprising that they didn't release a second version of Burnout Paradise when you remember that they're owned by EA. Cause EA is you know... evil and stuff.
