i know it is a very open game, but what do you gamers look for in a game? Is it story lines? just fighting and action? Drama? or even just the music? or is it all the graphics? I'm just starting my first year in a games design course, and i want to know what people want from a game. So PLEAASE!! help me out!! i want people to message me personally on here and even on this topic link so read a get typing! What do you look for in a GAME?
A nice personality. What do you look for in a GAME?
Depends on the genre. For shooters I look for great online play.
A nice personality.
That, and nice eyes.Wut
Fun.
Mostly great gameplay and replay value. But it sure doesn't hurt if the story, music, graphics etc. are good too.
I look for an open ended, free roaming 1st person shooter/action game with an amazing story, lots of killable characters with great voice acting and lots of branching paths that affect the ending.I know it sounds alot like Fallout 3
The overall package really.I'd say though that recently I hold replayability in higher regard. In a world where games regularly cost between fifty and sixty dollars my games sure as hell better make it worth it.I also hate it when a game's dailouge is incredibly stupid. It can really bog down the experience. I'm looking at you Sonic the Hedgehog and Devil May Cry.A good story is nice, but it's certainly not required. Really I'd even say presentation is more important.Im no graphics whore, but a game should at least look like the developer put some effort into it. If the game looks like it belongs on the PS2, you can bet I wont be to pleased. I can deffinatly look past it though if the rest of the game is well put together(No More Heroes is a perfect example).
better immersion, gameplay (don't be afraid to try new things), graphics don't need to be high end just enough to be playable, story should make you think and have fun, music needs to match the game. Thats all I got, I want to be a designer too :).
Something different every time. Free roam, open endings, game length, online are overrated imo.
That's what is so great about games. Developers ask themselves that question all the time and a lot of things are possible in a fully programmable environment. We are reaching for a paradise, and from what we see it seems there are many paths to it.
Entertainment and lots of epic moments!!!
Entertaining and/or innovative gameplay. To a lesser extent, longetivity and presentation....
-Good graphics and Character animations that flow smoothly. Bad graphics and bad character animations are what made MLB 2k8 such a horrible game.-A good game engine so it's easy to control your character without dieing.-An open world that you can explore, not a bunch of straight forward levels where you run down a single path.-A good story with cutscenes. Tony Hawks Underground is my favorite Tony Hawk game ever, and arguably one of my most favorite games of all time because I loved the newly added story mode. That's what the game series needed, and that's what I hated about Project 8, there was hardly any kind of story in that game. A good story in a video game always makes you want to keep going, I couldn't stop playing Uncharted because of the story.
Fun, fun, and uhhhhh....fun
A nice personality.
xD Nice one. I myself look for teh fun.
A good story and presentation (i.e. voice acting). Gameplay elements come right after that on my priority list.
I don't think I can conjure up an answer. There's not just one single thing that make games appealing to me. There are several, and they vary depending on the game. I'm obviously not looking for a mature, interactive story in FIFA 09, but that's why I find Heavy Rain intriguing.

A game without bugs and loading times
Also it should last more than just 6 hrs and offer a challenge, and of course replay value
That's the basics i guess
