Okay, i have friend who thinks xbox 360 has a longer life cycle for gaming. Like if a xbox 360 came out and you bought a good pc he thinks that gear of war could not run.. on the pc. If you bought a hardware when the xbox came out. He also think thats that good pc hardware is useless after 3 years.. When its simple pc has obv far supreior hardware then console and can run games alot better that lookalot better. while the console has its limit with its low end card. The pc hardware bar is that much higher. The original bar is going to be set so much higher then the console its not possible to catch up. He should be thinking the other way around to get better graphics he is going to need a new console for it have better graphics. But he is thinking the complete oppistite . Im I the retarded one or this console have a longer life cycle then a good pc. which would be the crysis warhead .What has longer life cycle for good game ...
You can still play games from the mid-'80s on modern PC's. I don't see the capability to run Atari 7800 or Nintendo Entertainment System games on modern consoles (that is, in their original release form, on cartridges). What has longer life cycle for good game ...
People are still playing starcraft and diablo.cant say the same for generations of console games post-ps2.
now he saying my laptop with 2.2 ghz dual core 8600 512 mb gt , 2 gb of ram on xp and can't make gears of war look better then his console version.. when it clearly does.... Higher res textures and aa .he says im not getting 1080p.. neither is he.. and his textures are lower res and with less detail. ? Type your thoughts so i can send him the link to this thread. Also i dont think one game runs 1080p on ps3 true 1080 p. Also even if it doesn.. the texture detail the aa and other graphical effects aren't there.
You should slap your friend with a large trout.

In fact, if my memory is correct...You're getting MORE than 1080p.
I used to play the original Castle Wolfenstein on my rig which came out on the Apple2e in the 80's. I play N.E.S, S.N.E.S. N64, plus Genesis games and any D.O.S. game on my current rig. Can any console do that now?

I think the most modern ATI and nVidia cards are pumping out 1600p (2560x1600). More than double the resolution.

Consoles. Look a the PS2. It's still getting games like Star Wars Force Unleashed, Sonic Unleashed, DDR, DBZ Infinite World, DBZ Triple Pack, LEGO Batman, King of Fighters Collection, Guitar Hero World Tour, Crash, Spyro, Call of Duty, Need for Speed, Dynasty Warriors 6, Rock Band 2, Tomb Raider Underworld, and Persona 4. Not to mention a bunch of sports games.
All of those games are still coming, according to IGN.
And the system recently saw a release of Yakuza 2, Madden '09, Guitar Hero Aerosmith, Rock Band, LEGO Indiana Jones. Ratchet and Clank Size Matters, Silent Hill Origins, Guitar Hero Encore, Guitar Hero III, LEGO Star Wars II, MLB Power Pros, Neo Geo Battle Colliseum, Burnout Dominator, and God of War II.
All of those games came out in either 2007 or 2008, and there are games scheduled all the way into 2009. The PS2 first came out in 2000. Try playing current PC games on 7-9 year old hardware.
^^ The quailty of those games graphically cant not be compared to the next gen or the pc that was built at that time. The person im takling about is saying quailty of games become better on the console then it does on the pc with the same hardware. But the retard doesnt realize that the pc starts off with a such a higher bar for hardware performance a console can't put better games.

So if a PC game did that (and some do) you sure could play it with 7-9 year old hardware. And that still doesn't change the fact a new PC can play about 20 years worth of games. 7-9 is less than half of that.

Hermits try to act like virtually all older PC games are instantly playable on new rigs. Not true. DOS games in particular are a pain in the A to get working. Even with the proper ''software'' to run DOS games, you have to do a lot of tweaking and configuring for each game, and that's if they even work at all. Even fairly newer games like Quake don't run perfectly - plenty of games from Windows 95/98 era aren't fully compatible with XP/Vista, or don't work at all. PC doesn't have perfect backward compatibility as hermits would have you believe.
The funny thing is, though, I'd rather play PS1 and N64 games on my PC (*ahem*) than on a Wii or PS2.
