EA Gives Up On Take-Two Acquistion

Link

''It's official - Grand Theft Auto V will not be released under the Electronic Arts brand.
EA has just issued a press release announcing that it has decided not to continue its lengthy pursuit of Take-Two Interactive. The two sides have been talking, but those negotiations appear to have broken down. At this point it's unclear what made EA decide to give up its nearly seven-month long bid to acquire T2''

Is this the first time EA haven't been successful in a proposed take over?

Great, i want Take-Two to have their freedomEA Gives Up On Take-Two Acquistion
Another GTA game?? Anyway, well EA can't get everything they want, I guess.
good. otherwise gta 2009 edition and gta 2010 edition wouldnt have been too far off
:)

EA has enough big-name titles/franchises as it is, and it's nice to see them trying again, but trying isn't enough in some cases. Most of the time EA's games are decent enough, but we need more independent developers, or at least more independent publishers. Plus, with the money potential behind GTA, I can see it being released in yearly installments by EA. GTA '09, '10, '11 anyone?

Seriously, the Midnight Club franchise is safe, all is right with the world.

Not my words, but wrap your minds around this:
TTWO wanted the takeover, only after they got their money and stock price bump from GTA4. The thing is, EA really wanted the revenues from GTA4 to shore up the stock price.

GTA4 sales have reached stagnation earlier than anticipated, and GTA is like the only thing TTWO does that actually makes money, so EA probably just didn't want to pay out the nose to give more money to the criminals that usually end up running TTWO and be forced to spend the ton of money it would take to absorb all of TTWO's teams.
Good
Great news.
Perfect. One day Take Two will acually be able to create another NFL game that will blow us away :D!
Well take two have the biggest franchise in gaming at the moment so you cant just come in and expect to take them over.
