Does anyone miss the days when on-line g ...

A lot of my best memories of console gaming was from 2000-2005. In the early 2000s when I played the N64, PSone and Dreamcast. I had a lot of great memories. Then, later on with the GameCube and PS2. I actually didn't play my first on-line game until right after I got my PS2 in March of 2005. Then I began to play on-line with the DS and now Wii.The point of this thread is that I feel that the video game industry has lost some of its magic. Or maybe it's partly me. Maybe as I've grown, some that wonderment of gaming has subsided. Whatever the cause, I just feel that in some ways there is an imbalance. This is for consoles, in particular. I think that the technology has progressed so fast that it seems like consoles are trying to be like like hybrids. The PC is unique, and console games still are, even if some of it has left.Keep in mind that I'm very casual when it comes to on-line play, and I have little desire for a lot of the bells and whistles of on-line play. What do you think?Does anyone miss the days when on-line g ...
I miss co-op gaming that wasn't online where you would get with a friend and actually play games together in the same room. Online is like talking on the phone its cool but its just not the same as talking in real life.Does anyone miss the days when on-line g ...
I thought about that too. But then I sat down and played RB2 with my friend over XBL for a couple hours. I guess I miss it, but online certainly has its own charm.
yup... back then I used to go to arcades :P
my very first online game was SOCOM for the PS2.and ya online for consles was a new thing back then so really you can expect the same magic feel after playing online for over 6 years on a consle.

I certainly do, we are now seeing games sacrificing offline content to add online. No matter what online consoles get, PC will always be dominant online.
Hmph, I never played PS2 online me and my friends would love to play fighting games togethor like Tekken Tag tournament, my first online game was on DS and wii then 360 and PS3.
I miss the days when online console gaming wasn't prominent because I would rather sit in front of a big ass TV and play split screen or whatever with my friends. I've always liked online gaming on the PC though. My first online game was Quake II.
My first and favorite online game was Starcraft on PC, so when it (online gaming) came out on consoles it was nothing new to me. I prefer online over single player any day though. In Halo 3 I'd rather laser three enemies in a vehicle rather than three brutes in a prowler any day. *sigh* to bad the community from COD 4 can't come play Halo 3 (nothing wrong with COD, it just takes a lot of Halo 2 players away from Halo 3, lol).
when i rage quit cause my team sux on gws.. or get pwnt on cs cause my team sux or teh lag, or when i get teh shaft in wow cause my guild is noob I go play chrono trigger. Its such a nice game.. I agree, I miss those quality non emo games.
i kinda miss the old day of defeat days.. back when it was just a lowley mod
Online gaming was already available before 2000 anyway. I enjoy it though, so no.
I dont mind that games have online, it adds loads of replay value. What I HATE though is that they do online INSTEAD of offline when they should be doing BOTH.I mean think about it what game this gen has matched timesplitters 3 in terms of offline play? If we are lucky we get an offline versus mode, which is just the same as online but with less people. We dont get co-op nearly as much now either.I dont mind so much with warhawk as its split screen online, R6V2 has co-op too. But games like COD4 could have had a o-op mode or something...
Yeah, a little. Before, friends used to call and go 'aye come over so we can beat so and so, usually battletoads/dbl dragon/batman forever/general chaos/ninja turtles/and all those classics'. Now it's mostly aye go online I gotta lvl up/rank up/unlock stuff/etc.
