I wouldn't go as far as to call it a joke, it's just what I would call a ''complementary console''. Meaning that you own a primary console (PS3, 360, PC) along with that. If you own a Wii only, you lost, plain and simple.
It still has all the VC games (10 dollars for a NES game? Learn the prices before moaning about them, it costs 3 pounds for a NES game which is like 5 dollars...) and some good stuff on Wiiware like Lost Winds and Strong Bad. The reason that Wiiware hasn't gotten big long games like Wipeout HD is because it has a size limit of 40MB.
