Will Sony respond to the MS price drops?

Even though Sony stated there will be no price drops on the PS3 this Holiday, MS decided to take advantage by have a pretty nice price drop. With the month of August NPD numbers in the MS outselling Sony before the price drop took full effect will Sony be forced into dropping the price? Will Sony respond to the MS price drops?
Not unless Sony wishes to hemorrhage even more money on the PS3.Will Sony respond to the MS price drops?
If sony drops I think MS throws the 20 gig into the $199 sku.
No, MS only droped the price to target the casual market. Sony isn't really targeting the casual market this generation because they know they can't compete with the $200 Wii. Whatever the price shall be this christmas the PS3(or any gaming console for that matter) will sell. If the kids want them then the parents, while at the time will kringe at the sight of the price, will pay to see their kid's satisfaction.
Not until the first quarter of next year I'm assuming they want to pull some profit from this year more than anything I'm thinking. and a fresh year leaves them with more breathing room to make a profit for the year.
Not unless Sony wishes to hemorrhage even more money on the PS3.
This. Why do you think they're introducing the new 80 GB and 160 GB SKUs? They're trying to make the PS3 look more appealing without actually dropping the price.
If they want to go bankrupt, then yeah.
i think theyll respond with bundles for christmas maybe. but not a price drop. getting into a price war with MS is something sony really really dont want to do. there going to tote the ''value for money'' line id imagine.
it was stated in an article that they could care less about ms's price cuts and that they believe theyll be fine.
Sony did all their price cutting in one fail swoop. You can't cut the price by $200 in the first year and then match the other competitors when they start trimming their prices down. Big screwup by sony if you ask me. Shoulda taken $100 off first year, $100 next.
No, I doubt it. They have said many times that they are losing money on every PS3 sold. I really can't see them dropping the price, and losing more money for every PS3 sold in the inevitable holiday sales surge.
