why is the elite 360 such a horrible val ...

with the arcade priced at $199 no decent person would buy a $400 elite. The only additional value in the elite is the 120 gig hdd, definitely not worth the extra $200. In comparison to the feature rich ps3, the elite is a scam. my question is why is ms making the elite and pro 360s such a horrible value? ms can't be stupid enought to think that people will actually buy these products right? ms is shooting itself in the foot by promoting a sku that has no hdd. when the time comes and games will have to be installed, many developers will not be able to sell their games to those that have no hdd.The only solution is to introduce a 20 gig hdd in the arcade or drastically reduce the price of the stand alone hdd's.I think ms will definitely sell some units with the appropriately priced arcade but i don't know if us hardcore lemmings will benefit from this. ms had the opportunity in the beginning of this gen to dominate sony yet they still somehow blew it.why is the elite 360 such a horrible val ...
It's the most complete X360 set though so I guess it's valued appropriately in relation to the arcade though. why is the elite 360 such a horrible val ...
you failed when you brought up the arcade. you do realise that the arcade SKU is aimed at the casuals and no self respecting gamer would want one... the HDD is vital in many games, with some like halo 3 demanding it for some features. the pro 360 with the 60gig harddrive is the bargin basement for a gamer to get into the HD generation of games, and for an extra 100$ instead of 120 or whatever the stand alone drive is, why not just grab an elite.in conclusion.... /thread
I bought the elite a year ago..120gb, hdmi, runs cooler/quieter, looks better. And I would not waste my money on the arcade unless you just want a single player experience.
Arcade + 120 gig HDD = $350Elite = $400
Well, the arcade isn't backwards compatible (Because there's no HDD), and doesn't come with a HDD, and it doesn't come with HD cables, or a network cable, or a headset. If I didn't own a Xbox 360 -- I would buy a Premium Xbox 360, not the Elite and certainly not the Arcade.
Arcade + 120 gig HDD = $350Elite = $400
darkspineslayer, this combination is cheaper even with the incredibly overpriced 120 gig hdd.
Arcade + 120 gig HDD = $350Elite = $400
add on the network cable, headset and HDMI/HD cable and tell me how much again?
Well, the arcade isn't backwards compatible, and doesn't come with a HDD
actualy the HDD is what makes it BC, its not the system itself that can't handle it

If you don't have an HDTV you don't need those cables (then again if you don't have an HDTV you're probably buying a Wii). And a network cable can be had for nothing, so that doesn't really matter, and yeah, the headset is nice, but you don't have to have it.All I was doing was showing the reason people say you can have basically the same experience for a cheaper price.

Dont know why hardcore lemmings should care since if they are hardcore lemmings they should own a 360 already, but yeah Elite is not worth it anymore.
I bought the elite a year ago..120gb, hdmi, runs cooler/quieter, looks better. And I would not waste my money on the arcade unless you just want a single player experience.
I have an elite also. It also comes with an HDMI cable. These cables retail for $40+.
but it is still not the same experiance however. here, i will add on all the extras to make it on par with the eliteArcade + 120 gig HDD + componante HD/AV cable + Wired headset + decent network cable + HDMI cable= aproximatly $540 $350 for the console and harddrive, $50 for the HD cables, $40 and upwards for HDMI (thank you random poster), $29.99 for a wired headset, around 25-50 dollers for a decent network cable (and trust me, most will need another one anyways because the one they give you is short) honestly, your a lot better off ;)
I still don't understand why so many people dismiss the Arcade model. If you don't care about demos or large DLC, I see no reason why one wouldn't consider it.
I still don't understand why so many people dismiss the Arcade model. Because companies like M$ know they can take advantage of people who don't see that they're getting bent over for a insanely marked up hard drive and a different coat of paint.

the elite is very bad value. i dont know why anyone would buy it over the 60gb the arcade is a very good value if you're a casual gamer or already have a ps3. plays 99% of games
Buy the Halo 3 CE 360.. the best value right now if you can find it i think haha.
