I don't get it. It seems to me that Sony's answer to every XBox price cut is to cram some extra features or storage capacity into the PS3. I honestly could not care less if my PS3 had 20gb or 200gb of hard drive space, however I do care that the thing seems to cost almost twice as much. Sure it has wireless as standard, free online, blu-ray etc etc, but the price of entry still stops me dead every time I consider the buying the thing.Sony in my view need to concentrate on bringing the price down, even if it means reducing features. Rather than their current approach of adding bullet points to the box as a way of increasing sales. I want little big planet, I want MGS4. But not at the price Sony is asking. How about you guys, what is more important to you. Features and Hard Drive Space or Price?(And don't say games, everybody wants good games) PS3 pricing stratergy
Wait, since when are they increasing the price with extra features?Isn't it just at 400 now? I completely disagree btw. I'd like to have a 40 - 80gb ps3 at least because of the bluray download factor.Aren't you asking them to gimp the system? PS3 pricing stratergy
I don't see why anyone would care about hard drive price when you can just replace it yourself. 99% of people won't need more than 40GB, and that remaining 1% can go buy a 250GB drive and be done with it.Sony absolutely needs to bring the price, especially now that the 360 (finally!) dropped. I'm sure they don't won't to because it would make them continue to bleed money, but at at this point making a small profit won't matter if they end up in a distant third.
Wait, since when are they increasing the price with extra features?Isn't it just at 400 now?
I didnt say increasing the price. They just aren't nearly as aggressive at cutting it.
The PS3 gives you just about everything (Next gen format, free online, etc, etc) for a standard price. Sony is losing enough money from PS3 already, why should they lower it any more? They're also coming out with some great games in the next few months.
the ps3 is 300 in uk with added games in some offers. you cant go wrong mate.

Price. Also, do the new PS3's have BC? I want to play the god of war games.

I'm willing to pay a high price for a lot of features. One of the things I like about the PS3 is that it comes with a ton of features and everything you need. (Except a goddamn HD cable!)
I'm guessing it's because Sony is planning the future with their ''Futureproof'' PS3. In 5 years will technology beat the PS3? When that time comes the price will go down but right now Sony thinks they're so far advanced that the price is fine as is because it's ''Futuristic''.
Price. Also, do the new PS3's have BC? I want to play the god of war games.
Nope, I don't think any of the PS3's currently on sale have it. The last units to have it were the 80GB units that came in the MGS4 bundle.
It's obvious that Sony cannot compete with the competition selling their consoles at $399, new consumers would be stupid to buy a PS3 for that much when they can get a 360 much, much cheaper. Mark my words before xmas you will see another PS3 pricedrop, guaranteed.
Pretty much the reasoning I haven't got one yet. I hope the MS price drop makes them at least consider a price drop, possibly around KZ2 launch date for example.

Not only do you get 20 extra gb for what was the 60 gb's price, but you can get 120 gb for only 100$ more. Of course, it can be argued that its not really necessary. It's not like they're increasing the standard price again.
