If you go to the playstation website theres a list of ps2 and ps1 games, i think the 60gb is 100% backwards compatible, while on the other hand i think the 80gb has about 70- 80% but alot of them run glitchy60 GB PS3 vs 80 GB PS3 ( in terms of BC)
this is all you really have as far as a list
The 60gig uses actual PS2 hardware to play the PS2 games.
The 80gig uses software emulation to play the PS2 games
Personally, I have a 80gig PS3 and I have no problem playing any of the PS2 games I have.

I'm sleepy so all I did was read the topic and answered. The actual question could have been about peanuts, I would have posted the same response. Sorry  My ''official excuse'' though, is as follows...
I like to state the obvious :)
Statistics :The 60/20gig PS3's = 99.5% BC.
80gig PS3's = 89.5% BC.

Where did you get these numbers? :o
The early 60 GB has both the Emotion Engine ( CPU ) and the Graphics Synthesizer ( GPU ) from the PS2 on board , the 80 GB version still uses the GPU from the PS2 but the EE is emulated by the Cell .There is no full software Emulation on any PS3 for PS2 games !
ha my 20 gig also has 100% backward. my pore little 20 gig has been forgotten.
60GB by far.
